  1. If bearing (2) requires replacement, remove the track adjuster from front track roller frame (1). See the procedure in Disassembly and Assembly, "Track Adjuster - Remove" in this module.

  1. Remove the Recoil Spring. See the procedure in Disassembly and Assembly, "Recoil Spring - Remove" in this module.

  1. Place dry ice in the front track roller frame in order to lower the temperature of the tube. Heat bearing (2) to a maximum temperature of 175 °C (347 °F). Install bearing (2) on the front track roller frame.

  1. Clean the inner diameter of ring (3). Clean the outer diameter of the front track roller frame. Apply 4C-9500 Quick Cure Primer on the front track roller frame in the area for ring (3). Apply 7M-7456 Bearing Mount on the front track roller frame in the area for ring (3). Install ring (3) with the larger diameter toward the bearing. Hold the ring firmly in place for two minutes.

  1. Install the Recoil Spring. See the procedure in Disassembly and Assembly, "Recoil Spring - Install" in this module.

  1. Install the track adjuster in the front track roller frame. See the procedure in Disassembly and Assembly, "Track Adjuster - Install" in this module.

  1. Install bearing (5) and ring (4) in the rear track roller frame.

    Note: Make sure that Tooling (A) and Tooling (B) press on the outer ring of seal (6) when you install the seal in the rear track roller frame.

  1. Apply 7M-7456 Bearing Mount on the outer diameter of seal (6). Place seal (6) on the rear track roller frame. Position Tooling (A) on the frame according to Illustration 2.

  1. Tighten the two nuts on Tooling (A) evenly in order to move seal (6) inward until the seal is flush with the front surface of the rear track roller frame.

  1. Use Tooling (B) in order to install seal (6) at the bottom of the counterbore in the rear track roller frame.

  1. Install spiral ring (7) .

  1. Place Tooling (C) on the inner diameter of seal (6) .

    Note: Use care in order to avoid damage to the seal and to the bearing in the front of the rear track roller frame during the installation of the front track roller frame.

  1. Apply SAE 30W oil to the outer surfaces of bearing (2) and of ring (3) .

  1. Fasten a hoist to front track roller frame (1). Place a nylon strap around the front track roller frame. Fasten Tooling (D) between the hoist and the nylon strap. Support front track roller frame (1) in a level position. Slide the front track roller frame into the rear track roller frame. Remove Tooling (D) and the nylon strap. Remove Tooling (C) .

  1. Align the dowels in the track adjuster with the holes in the rear track roller frame. Align front track roller frame (1) in the rear track roller frame. Remove Tooling (E) and the hoist.

    Note: Install the guide and the cover on the inside of the rear track roller frame first for ease of installation.

  1. Install Tooling (F) in guide (8). Align guide (8) with the slot in the front track roller frame. Install the guide. Remove Tooling (F) from the guide.

  1. Position O-ring seal (9) on the cover. Install cover (10) and the eight bolts.

  1. Repeat Steps 16 and 17 on the outside of the rear track roller frame.

    Note: Install the tracks and adjust the tracks before you adjust the oil level in the recoil spring compartment.

  1. Fill the recoil spring compartment with oil to the correct level.
