NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

ReferenceRefer to Specifications, "Tracks" in the Service Manual for your machine.

ReferenceRefer to Custom Track Service Handbook for additional information on the track assembly and on maintenance.

ReferenceFor instruction on reusability, refer to Guideline for Reusable Parts, SEBF8022, "Sealed and Lubricated Track".

Note: Inspect all components of the track for wear and for damage. Replace any components that are worn or damaged. The components must be clean and the components must be dry before you assemble the track.

  1. Position 1P-3482 Adapter (Pin) (1) in frame (2) of Tooling (A) with the counterbore toward the ram. See Illustration 1.

    Illustration 2g00822800

  1. Apply SAE 90W gear oil on each end of bushing (4) for a minimum length of 5 mm (0.2 inch).

  1. Use Tooling (A) in order to install bushing (4) in track link (3). Push the bushing until the bushing contacts Tooling (A). The bushing must extend 1.80 ± 0.13 mm (0.071 ± 0.005 inch).

    Illustration 3g00822808

  1. Place the following components into Tooling (B) : track link (5), bushing (4) and track link (3). Use Tooling (B) in order to install the track link on the bushing until the bushing contacts Tooling (B). The bushing must extend 1.76 ± 0.13 mm (0.069 ± 0.005 inch) above the surface of the track link.

  1. Use Tooling (C) in order to install seals (seal rings and load rings) in the track links.

    Illustration 5g00822823

  1. Apply oil to stoppers (7). Install the stoppers in track pins (8). Install the stoppers to distance of 8 ± 4 mm (0.315 ± 0.158 inch) below the surface of the track pins.

  1. Place Tooling (D) in position between the track links. Use Tooling (D) in order to separate the track links enough to install components (9) .

  1. Fasten a hoist to components (9). Position components (9) in the track. Install Tooling (E) in order to maintain the position of the components.

  1. Place Tooling (D) between the track links. Use Tooling (D) in order to separate the track links enough to install components (10) .

  1. Fasten a hoist to components (10). Position components (10) in components (9) .

  1. Align the pin hole in components (10) with the hole in components (9). Install Tooling (E) .

    Illustration 8g00822906

  1. Fasten a hoist to Tooling (F). Position Tooling (F) on the track links.

Note: Install all of the track pins with the hole ends on the same side of the track. The track pins are marked with the location of the radial hole for lubrication. Position the hole within 20 degrees of the vertical centerline of the pin bore. Position this hole closest to the rail. Install the track pin with minimum force in order to reach a maximum of 0.13 mm (0.005 inch) of end play between the bushing and the thrust ring.

  1. Install track pin (12) with Tooling (F) until the track pin extends a maximum distance of 3.22 mm (0.127 inch) beyond the track links on both sides.

    Illustration 9g00822917

  1. Use two persons in order to replace three track shoes (13). Apply 4C-5593 Anti-Seize Compound to the following components: the threads, the shafts and the faces of the washers of the master link bolts. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 400 ± 70 N·m (300 ± 50 lb ft). Then, tighten the bolts by a turn of 120 degrees. The final torque (inspection) is a minimum of 680 N·m (500 lb ft).

  1. Remove Tooling (G) .

  1. Fill the track pins with a minimum of 50 mL (1.7 oz) of SAE 90 gear oil.

  1. Apply oil to the plug. Install the plug in the stopper in the end of the track pin with Tooling (H). Push the plug until the plug is even with the end of the stopper.

End By: Connect the track. See the procedure in Disassembly and Assembly, "Track - Connect" in this module.
