Start By:

  1. Remove the track roller frame. See the procedure in Disassembly and Assembly, "Track Roller Frame - Remove" in this module.

Personal injury can result from performing service on the track roller frame.

Refer to Special Instruction, SMHS8273 for inspection and removal procedures before performing any service.

  1. Place the track roller frame on a level surface. Support each end of the track roller frame with the track guides.

  1. Remove O-ring seal (3) from seal retainer (4) .

  1. Remove eight bolts (1) from retainer (2). Remove both retainers from the track roller frame.

  1. Remove the O-ring seal from retainer (2) which seals between the retainer and the track roller frame.

  1. Position Tooling (A) according to Illustration 2. Turn the bolt outward in order to apply pressure to plate (5). When plate (5) and retainer (4) are separated sufficiently, install Tooling (B) in order to maintain separation. Repeat this step at three other points around the retainer.

  1. Use a soft hammer around the outer diameter of the retainer in order to loosen plate (5). Remove plate (5) .

  1. Place both retainers in a press. Use Tooling (C) in order to remove retainer (2) from retainer (4) .

  1. Use a press or a hammer in order to remove seal (6) from retainer (4). If necessary, use a punch.

  1. If two bearings (7) are damaged, remove the bearings from the sides of the track roller frame.

    Note: If two bearings (7) are removed from the track roller frame, the bearings are destroyed.

  1. Mark the track rollers and the track roller frame, so that the single flange rollers are installed in the original locations, and the double flange rollers are installed in the original locations. Remove the track rollers. See the procedure in Disassembly and Assembly, "Track Roller - Remove" in this module.

  1. Remove the track idlers. See the procedure in Disassembly and Assembly, "Idler - Remove" in this module.
