  1. Install O-ring (9) on bushing (10) .

  1. Use Tooling (B) in order to install Duo-Cone seal (11) in bushing (10) .

    Illustration 2g00591625

  1. Apply SAE 30W oil to O-ring seals (8). Install O-ring seals (8) on track roller shaft (7) .

    Illustration 3g00591739

  1. Apply SAE 30W oil to the bore of roller (6). Also, lubricate the surface and the seal of bushing (10). Use a hydraulic press and Tooling (C) in order to install bushing (10) in roller (6). Bushing (10) should just clear the retaining groove in roller (6) .

  1. Use Tooling (A) in order to install retaining ring (5) in roller (6) .

    Illustration 5g00591738

Note: The bushing in roller (6) can be damaged when shaft (7) is installed in roller (6) .

  1. Rotate the track roller by 180 degrees. Install track roller shaft (7) in roller (6). Position shaft (7) carefully.

    Illustration 6g00591739

  1. Apply SAE 30W oil to the bore of roller (6). Also, lubricate the surface and the seal of bushing (10). Use a hydraulic press and Tooling (C) in order to install remaining bushing (10) in roller (6). Bushing (10) should just clear the retaining groove in roller (6) .

    Illustration 7g00591741

  1. Use Tooling (A) in order to install retaining ring (5) in roller (6) .

    Illustration 8g00591622

  1. Rotate the track roller by 180 degrees. Use a hydraulic press against track roller shaft (7) in order to move opposite bushing (10) against retaining ring (5) .

    Illustration 9g00591620

  1. Use Tooling (B) in order to install Duo-Cone seal (4) in end collar (1) .

    Illustration 10g00591742

    Illustration 11g00822353

  1. Install end collar (1) on track roller shaft (7), and install lock ring (3) on track roller shaft (7) .

  1. Repeat Steps 11 and 12 in order to install remaining end collar (1) on the opposite end of track roller shaft (7) .

  1. Use Tooling (D) in order to pressure test the track roller by performing the following steps:

    1. Use dry air in order to pressurize the track roller to 280 kPa (41 psi).

    1. Observe the pressure reading of the track roller. The pressure should remain constant for ten seconds. A reduction in pressure in ten seconds or less indicates a leak in the track roller. If the reading indicates that a leak exists, disassemble the track roller. Inspect the seals on the track roller.

    Illustration 12g00827043

    Typical Example

  1. Use Tooling (E) in order to check the end play of shaft (7). The correct end play is 0.79 ± 0.54 mm (0.0311 ± 0.0213 inch).

  1. Fill the track roller with 410 ± 25 mL (13.9 ± 0.8 oz) of SAE 30W oil. The track roller should be filled through the opening in shaft (7) for the plug and for stopper (2) .

    Illustration 13g00591745

    Typical Example

  1. Apply clean oil to new stopper (2). Install stopper (2) in the end of shaft (7). The outside face of stopper (2) should be 7 ± 7 mm (0.275 ± 0.275 inch) below the chamfer of shaft (7) .

  1. Use Tooling (F) in order to install the plug in stopper (2). The outside surface must be even with the outside surface of the stopper.

End By: Install the track roller in the track roller frame. See the procedure in Disassembly and Assembly, "Track Roller - Install" in this module.
