Procedure to Connect the Track

Start By:

  1. Assemble the Track. See the procedure in Undercarriage Reconditioning Guide, SEBF8599.

  1. Place the track under the machine. Lower the side of the machine on track (8) .

  1. Fasten one end of a chain to track (8) and fasten the other end to another machine.

    Note: In order to avoid damage to the track or to the machine, pull the track in a straight line.

  1. Lift the end of the track. Place wood blocks under the grouser. See Illustration 1.

  1. Pull the track until the track bushings engage with the sprocket on the final drive.

  1. Start the machine. Turn the final drive in the reverse direction in order to pull the track together.

    Note: Make sure that the serrations on the master links are clean and dry.

  1. Align the lower ends with the upper ends of master links (7) . Make sure that the serrations of both ends are engaged.

  1. Move the track until the master link is aligned with the centerline of rear idler (6) . Place master shoe (5) in position on the master links. Apply 4C-5593 Anti-Seize Compound to the following components: the threads, the shank and the faces of the washers for master link bolts (4) . Tighten bolts (4) to a torque of 340 ± 70 N·m (250 ± 50 lb ft). Then, tighten the bolts by an additional turn of 120 degrees.

  1. Tighten relief valve (2) and tighten track adjustment valve (3) to a torque of 35 ± 7 N·m (26 ± 5 lb ft).

  1. Install the track adjuster cover (1) on the track roller frame.
