NOTE: | This Containment Program can only be administered after a failure occurs. The decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer and service rep. Obtain the service reps Goodwill Approver Code before completing the repair. EAME dealers should use their standard Industry Group specific goodwill approval codes. The Goodwill Approver Code must be included when submitting the claim. |
NOTE: | When reporting the repair, use "PS61393" as the Part Number and "7777" as the Group Number. Use "96" as Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code. |

PROBLEM
The existing axle can have a leakage risk between the center housing and leg housing on certain 966M and 972M Medium Wheel Loader. This can affect both the front and rear axles, and on both sides. |

PARTS DISPOSITION
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling. |
1. Remove the tire. Refer to UENR0378, Disassembly and Assembly, "Tire and Rim (Front) - Remove and Install", to remove the front tire. Refer to UENR0378, Disassembly and Assembly, "Tire and Rim (Rear) - Remove and Install", to remove the rear tire. 2. Remove the axle. Refer to UENR0378, Disassembly and Assembly, "Fixed Axle (Front) - Remove and Install", to remove the front axle. Refer to UENR0378, "Oscillating Axle (Rear) - Remove and Install", to remove the rear axle. 3. Open the axle housing. Refer to UENR0378, Disassembly and Assembly, "Axle Housing - Disassemble", to open the axle housing. 4. Clean the axle abutment flanges by spraying isopropyl with a dust-free towel. Refer to Image1.1.1. |

5. Apply anaerobic sealant Loctite? 5188 on the surfaces with activator/primer SF 7240 or SF 7649. Refer to Image1.1.2. 6. Reassemble the axle housing. Refer to UENR0378, Disassembly and Assembly, "Axle Housing - Assemble", for the axle housing assemble procedures to assemble the axle housing back. Use Loctite 243 thread locker on all of the leg housing to the center housing bolts. Tighten to a specified torque of 300 +/- 40 N.m. 7. Reinstall the axle. Refer to UENR0378, Disassembly and Assembly, "Fixed Axle (Front) - Remove and Install", to remove the front axle. Refer to UENR0378, "Oscillating Axle (Rear) - Remove and Install", to remove the rear axle. Note: Allow 24 hours for cure time before filling axle with oil or running axle. 8. Reinstall the tire. Refer to UENR0378, Disassembly and Assembly, "Tire and Rim (Front) - Remove and Install", to reinstall the front tire. Refer to UENR0378, Disassembly and Assembly, "Tire and Rim (Rear) - Remove and Install", to reinstall the rear tire. |
