PROBLEM
Show/hide table
The existing dual tilt hose (p/n 387-0462) can interfere, and potentially fail, on certain D9T Track-Type Tractors. If the existing dual tilt hose fails, it can lead to a hydraulic leak and potential unexpected machine downtime.
In order to allow equitable parts availability to all participating dealers, please limit your initial parts order to not exceed 15% of dealership population. This is an initial order recommendation only, and the ultimate responsibility for ordering the total number of parts needed to satisfy the program lies with the dealer.

1. Park the machine on level ground, lower all implements to the ground, shut machine off, and relieve all hydraulic system pressure. Refer to SEBU8736, D9T Track-Type Tractor, Operation and Maintenance Manual, KENR8938, D9T Track-Type Tractor Engine Supplement, Disassembly and Assembly, and KENR8947, D9T Track-Type Tractor Machine Systems, Disassembly and Assembly for more information.
2. Refer to KENR8938, D9T Track-Type Tractor Engine Supplement, Disassembly and Assembly, Engine Side Guards - Remove and Install as needed to gain access to the machine-right side of the engine, where the dual tilt hose is located. See Image 1.2.1 for an on-machine overview of the hose location.

3. Inspect the 387-0462 Hose As (Item #6), primarily in the area between the fender beam and the turbocharger, to determine if any heat degradation and/or hose cover damage (knicks, cuts, gouges, etc.) exist due to a fouling condition. If damage is observed, this hose may be replaced under the terms of this letter. See Image 1.3.1 for an specific overview of where hose damage would be most likely, bounded by the clip at the rear of the transmission cooler and the turbo water lines.
Image1.3.1
4. **Optional** If hose was deemed compromised in Step 3, please replace the entire hose assembly between the valve and the bulkhead in the bottom of the radiator guard. All clipping hardware is to be reused. To prevent any draining and refilling of the hydraulic system, please install FT-1114 Vacuum Cap tooling onto the hydraulic tank, after removing the cap. Attach an air supply hose to vacuum cap. Apply 276 to 414 kPa (40 to 60 psi) of air.
5. For the clipping point at the rear bonnet of the transmission cooler, remove the existing two-piece p-clip (A & B). See Image 1.5.1.

6. Install the 226-3492 Bracket (Item #1) onto existing bracket, using the 8T-4136 Bolt (Item #2) and 8T-4121 Washer (Item #3), on the rear bonnet of the transmission cooler. This bracket should be oriented machine-outboard, with the bend pointing up. Then, clip the hose assembly, utilizing the 8T-1887 Clip (Item #4) and 8T-1888 Clip (Item #5) to Bracket (Item #1), using the 8T-4136 Bolt (Item #2) and 8T-4121 Washer (Item #3). This p-clip should be oriented machine-downward, with the bubble of the clip pointing machine-outboard. After re-routing, please confirm clearance to the turbocharger. See Image 1.6.1.
