Problem:

A relief valve is provided to protect the impeller motor from high backpressure in case an object becomes lodged in the auger. The relief valve was factory set at 1500 psi. This relief valve setting has proven to be too low, especially when handling wet, heavy snow.

Solution:

Increase the pressure relief setting for the auger from 1500 psi to 1850 psi by performing the steps that are provided below.

While it is necessary to increase the pressure relief setting, it is very important that the setting is not increased higher than 1850 psi in order to prevent the motor from being subjected to sustained pressures that exceed 2000 psi. Failure to comply may result in damage to seals and in failure of the impeller motor.

1. Locate the control valve on the right side of the snowblower. See Figure 1.
2. Locate pressure relief valve (1) on the right side of the control valve. See Figure 2.
3. Use an 11/16wrench to loosen jam nut (2). See Figure 3.
4. Use a 3/16Allen Wrench to turn setscrew (3) 3/4of a turn in the clockwise direction.

NOTE: 3/4of a turn in the clockwise direction will increase the pressure relief setting to approximately 1850 psi. Do not adjust setscrew (3) more than 3/4of a turn in order to prevent exceeding the 1850 psi pressure setting.

5. Retighten jam nut (2).
