Introduction
This Special Instruction outlines the installation procedure to retrofit a 471-1988 Swivel Guard Upgrade Kit on certain excavators listed above.
Do not perform any of the procedures or order any parts until you have read and understand the instructions contained in this publication.

- Place the machine in the servicing position. Refer to the appropriate Operation and Maintenance Manual for the proper procedure.

- Install plate assembly (1) into lower frame (A).
- Install plate assembly (2) into lower frame (A).
- Install six hard washers (4) and six locking bolts (3) in order to secure plate assemblies (1) and (2).
