  • Service Magazine SEPD1876, 27 October 2015, "The Standard Cat HYDO Oil Change Interval is Extended on All D2-Series, E-Series, and F-Series Excavators". Disregard this article. Refer to the article that follows for additional information regarding changing the maintenance interval schedule through the monitor.

The standard Cat HYDO oil change interval is extended on all D2 Series, E Series, and F Series Excavators. A zinc free hydraulic oil is no longer used on the machines listed above that are manufactured in Japan from October 2014. Machines with Cat HYDO Advanced 10 oil will have the film shown in Illustration 1 on the hydraulic tank. The standard Cat HYDO Advanced 10 oil change interval is extended to every 6000 service hours or 3 years. SOS monitoring of the hydraulic oil is recommended for this interval change. The interval for SOS monitoring is every 500 after 3000 service hours.

Machines with hammers must use the intervals that are listed in the Maintenance Interval. Machines that are used in severe conditions are not included in the 6000 service hour or 3 year maintenance interval. Machines that are used in severe conditions must use the interval in the Maintenance Interval Schedule.

There is a possibility that the interval time did not change to 6000 service hours in the monitor. Verify the setting through the monitor of the machine using Cat HYDO Advanced 10 oil. If the setting for the interval time is not 6000 service hours, change the setting to 6000 service hours in the monitor. Refer to Illustration 2 for the monitor views for changing the maintenance interval schedule.
