Service Magazine SEPD0614, 28 January 2002, "Cable Assembly for Stabilizer Pads Prevents Unwanted Flipping". Disregard the article and refer to the following article.

Description of Change: A new cable assembly for the stabilizer pad prevents unwanted flipping of stabilizer pads. The flip over stabilizer flips to an unwanted position when mud collects on the pad. The text below gives details that are needed to modify the flip over stabilizer to use the new cable assembly.

Adaptable To: The 188-5004 Cable Assembly holds the flip over stabilizer in the desired position. The new cable for the stabilizer pad will be effective with the models in Table 1.

The 16 mm (0.63 inch) is centered on the plate.

  1. Use the dimensions in Illustration 3 in order to fabricate a plate for each pad assembly. Also use Illustration 3 in order to fabricate two pieces of round bar stock for each pad assembly.

    Illustration 4g00843195

All rework on the pad assembly should allow the cable assembly to be installed on the side of the stabilizer closest to the backhoe of the machine. The fabricated plate is 6 mm (0.24 inch) from the inside edge (4) of the pad assembly. The two pieces of bar stock are flush with the inside edge (4) of the pad assembly.

  1. Weld the fabricated plate (1) on the bottom side of the pad assembly. The plate should be welded 6 mm (0.24 inch) from the inside edge of the pad assembly. Weld the two pieces of round bar stock to the pad assembly. The two pieces of bar stock are flush with the inside edge of the pad assembly. Drill a 16 mm (0.63 inch) hole for callout (3). Refer to Illustration 4 for measurements.

  1. Remove the 6V-8144 Rings from the 130-1638 Cylinder Pin. Remove the 9R-0158 Washers from the cylinder pin.

  1. Install the 188-5004 Cable Assembly on the 130-1638 Cylinder Pin. The cable should be installed on the side of the stabilizer closest to the backhoe of the machine. Install one 9R-0158 Washer and a 6V-8144 Ring in order to secure the cable assembly.

  1. As needed, install 9R-0158 Washers on the 130-1638 Cylinder Pin in order to provide a 3 mm (0.12 inch) maximum clearance. Install the 6V-8144 Ring .
