Note: Replace all O-ring seals and gaskets. Apply a light film of hydraulic oil to all components before assembly.

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, clean all parts in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

Note: The assembly procedure begins with the head. The assembly procedure for the body follows.

  1. Use Tooling (A) in order to install shuttle valve (28) .

  1. Assemble spool (23) , spring (24) , seat (25) , and cap (26) .

  1. Install valve assembly (22) .

  1. Install the spool, the spring, the seat, and the cap on the other side of the head.

  1. Assemble poppet (21) , spring (20) and valve assembly (19) .

  1. Install the poppet, the spring, and the valve assembly on the other side of the head.

  1. Install valve assembly (14) .

  1. Install spool (13) , spacer (12) , and spring (11) .

  1. Install cap (10) . Torque the cap to 250 N·m (185 lb ft).

  1. Install piston (9) and plug (8) .

  1. Install new O-ring seals (7) on both relief valves.

  1. Install relief valves (6) . Torque each relief valve to 100 N·m (75 lb ft).

  1. Install port plate (4) and pin (5) .

    Note: Use grease in order to hold port plate (4) in position.

  1. Use Tooling (F) and a soft hammer in order to install seal (35) .

    Note: Raise the temperature of bearing (47) and bearing (49) . Lower the temperature of shaft (46) .

  1. Install bearing (48) onto shaft (46) .

    Note: The preload for the bearings is adjusted at the factory. Install the bearings in sets.

  1. Install bearing (47) . Install shim (45) , and retaining ring (44) .

  1. Install center pin (41) , pistons (40) and retainer (39) . Install screws (38) .

  1. The following steps are necessary in order to select the thickness of shim (43) . The thickness of the shim determines the lift-off limitation.

    1. Install spring (42) and Tooling (G) into the center pin hole in barrel (37) .

    1. Install Tooling (C) into barrel (37) .

    1. Raise the housing to 80 °C (176 °F). Place the housing on suitable blocks.

    1. Lower the rotary assembly into the housing. Install a new seal (29) .

    1. Install shim (33) .

    1. Use Tooling (E) in order to install retaining ring (34) .

      Note: Use the recorded distance from the locknut to the end of the set screw for installation purposes.

    1. Install locknuts (31) and screws (32) .

    1. Install head (3) on the housing. Turn the shaft and tighten bolts (2) at the same time.

    1. Remove bolts (2) . Remove head (3) .

    1. Remove Tooling (C) . Remove barrel (37) .

    1. Measure the thickness of Tooling (G) , Dimension (Z) . Subtract 0.3 ± 0.1 mm (.012 ± .004 inch) from Dimension (Z) . Use a shim of this dimension in order to set the correct lift off limitation.

      Example (Z) = 5.00 mm (0.197 inch) - 0.3 ± 0.1 mm (.012 ± .004 inch) = 4.70 mm ± 0.10 (0.185 inch ± 0.004 inch).

    1. Install shim (43) that was determined in Step 22.n into barrel (37) . Use a small amount of grease in order to hold the shim in the barrel .

  1. Install head (3) and bolts (2) . Tighten to a torque of 87 N·m (64.2 lb ft).
