Assembly Procedure For 777D Off-Highway Trucks - Form no. SEHS9997 - October 1996 Caterpillar

Problem:

1. Please delete the following in the Assembly Instructions, page 9:

Quote

Step 4. "Apply 4C5593 Anti-Seize to forty two 1D-4638 bolts (5) with forty two 9M2828 Washers (6) and tighten the bolts to a torque of 1050± 150N·m (772.0 ± 110.3 lb ft)".

Unquote

2. Please delete the following in the Assembly Instructions, page 41:

Quote

Step 4. "Install twenty 5D-0764 Hard Washers (1) and twenty 5D-0765 Full Nuts (2). Tighten 5D-0765 Full Nuts (2) to a torque of 1210 ± 55N·m (895 ± 40 lb ft)".

Unquote

Solution:

1a. And replace with the following note, page 9:

Quote

4. Tighten the forty two 1D4638 bolts (5) with forty two 9M2828 washers (6) to a torque of 1050 ± 150 N·m (772 ± 110.3 lb ft).

NOTE: Do not use 4C5592 Anti-Seize or any other lubricate on these bolts.

Unquote

2a. And replace with the following note, page 41:

Quote

4. Apply 4C-5593 Anti-Seize on wheel studs and washers. Install twenty 5D-0764 Hard Washers (1) and twenty 5D-0765 Full Nuts (2). Tighten 5D-0764 Full Nut (2) to a torque of 1210 ± 55N·m (895 ± 40 lb ft).
