Idler/Bogie Roller Bearings Caterpillar

Idler/Bogie Roller Bearings

Usage:

PAVING PRODUCTSAP-1050B (6ZN) ASPHALT PAVERS

Problem:

A number of pavers may have been assembled with incorrect bearing cones installed in the outer locations in the 114-1888 Center Bogie Groups, 114-1887 Front Bogie Groups, and 114-5539 Front Idler Groups. The inner and outer tapered roller bearing cones have the same outside diameter and width, and are assembled with the same bearing cup.

The correct 4D-3882 Inner Bearing Cone has an inside diameter of 73.025 mm (2.875 in.). The correct 006-7232 Outer Bearing Cone has an inside diameter of 69.850 mm (2.75 in.).

Some idler and bogie roller groups may have the 4D-3882 Inner Bearing Cone installed in both the inner and outer locations. This could result in misalignment of the idler and roller groups under load. Misalignment could cause uneven track, idler or roller wear.

Solution:

If there is significant, uneven wear, and/or idler or roller group misalignment, check to make sure that the correct bearing cones have been installed in the idler and bogie roller groups.

NOTE: The AP-1050B Parts Manual (Form No: KEBP0162) lists the bearing cones incorrectly for the 114-1887 Front Bogie Group on p. 192. The correct part numbers are listed above. A Parts Manual correction will be made.
