There is an incorrect bolt part number in both Tables 1 and 2. See the tables below for the correct part numbers.
--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------
Description of Change: The lift cylinder rod and piston have been improved. The rod assembly is now attached to the piston with a bolt. Previously a threaded end on the rod assembly was attached to the piston using a nut. The new design also uses the same rod assembly on standard and heavy lift cylinder groups. The changes significantly improve the strength of the rod assembly at the rod/piston interface.
Adaptable To: The improved 160-0158 Cylinder Assembly (12,000 lb lift) replaces the 133-2285/108-2914 Cylinder Groups, and the 160-0159 Cylinder Assembly (15,000 lb lift) replaces the 133-2286/108-2915 Cylinder Groups.
The new 160-0158/160-0159 Cylinder Groups were effective with Challenger 35 (8DN1002), Challenger 45 (1DR2048), and Challenger 55 (7DM1758) Agricultural Tractors.
The improved rod assembly and piston may be retrofitted to earlier cylinder groups. When servicing internal parts of the former 108-2914, 108-2915, 133-2285, and 133-2286 Cylinder Groups use Table 1 or Table 2 for a complete list of updated parts.
IMPORTANT: The parts in Table 1 or Table 2 must be installed as a group.
NOTE: The 160-0158/160-0159 Cylinder Groups were developed primarily to service internal parts of older style cylinder groups. If a complete 160-0158/160-0159 Cylinder Group needs to be replaced, it is recommended that you service it with the 151-8881/151-8992 Cylinder Groups. (The 151-8881/151-8892 Cylinder Groups are effective with the 1999 Model year and have a new internal design). When the 151-8881/151-8992 Cylinder Groups are used to replace any former Cylinder Group, additional parts are also needed. See Table 3 for a complete listing.
