583R Pipelayer winch frame with drainage hole.
A drainage hole has been added to the plate below the boom winch drum in the winch frame (see illustration). The hole allows water accumulation in the plate to drain. This reduces corrosion of the plate and eliminates ice build up in cold climate applications.

Adaptable To: The winch frame with the drainage hole is effective on 583R (2XS526). The hole can be added to 583R (2XS1-525) by either drilling or torching a 50 mm (2 inch) in the position shown in illustration 2.

If a torch is used to cut out the hole in the plate, umwind as much cable as possible from both winches and protect the drums surfaces and other components in close proximity.
