Usage:
CP-433C (2JM579-Up),
CS-433C (3TM706-Up),
CP-433C (4JZ122-Up),
CS-433C (5BZ119-Up),
CP-433C (1ZN121-Up),
CS-433C (2TN118-Up) Vibratory Compactors
Description of Change: Certain CP/CS-433C Compactors may experience vibratory system speeds slower than normal due to vibratory gear motor inefficiency. Replacing the existing gear motor with a new piston-type motor increases vibratory system efficiency and updating to a new pump with adjustable servo stops will allow for easier and more accurate vibratory system adjustment, together improving the overall performance of the vibratory system.
Adaptable To: (2JM1-578), (3TM1-705), (5BZ1-118), (4JZ1-122), (1ZN1-120), (2TN1-117).
Reference: Reference Service Manual KENR2640 for vibratory pump and motor replacement.
Rework Procedure:
NOTE: Machines in the following serial number ranges must have Service Letter PS4188 dated 12/5/97 completed to be adaptable for this update.
(2JM1-508), (1ZN1-122), (3TM1-614), (2TN1-217).
Test And Adjust Procedure:
NOTICE |
---|
Tests should be performed on tires or loose dirt. Tires are recommended. Never operate the vibratory system when on concrete. If testing time longer than five minutes is required, the drum should be periodically rotated to lubricate the eccentric weight shaft bearings.
|
NOTE: The hydraulic oil should be at least 38oC (100oF).
1. Make sure the parking brake is applied and the propel control is in the STOP position.
2. Move the amplitude selector to the HIGH AMPLITUDE position.
3. Start and run the machine at high idle. Engine speed should be at least 2350 ± 50 RPM.
4. Depress the vibratory control switch (at the top of the propel lever) to the ON position to start the vibratory system. Record the vibrations per minute (VPM) from the original gauge on the steering console and/or read the VPM from the 133-0963 Drum Vibration Tachometer or the 133-9905 Frequency Meter. The maximum VPM setting for high amplitude should be 1925 ± 25 VPM.
5. Depress the vibratory control switch to the OFF position to stop the vibratory system.
6. If the frequency is not correct, adjust the high amplitude adjustment screw located on the left side servo cover of the vibratory pump. Loosen the locknut on the VPM adjustment screw and turn the adjustment screw counterclockwise to increase the maximum VPM or turn the screw clockwise to decrease maximum VPM.
Low Amplitude
7. Move the vibratory selector switch to the LOW AMPLITUDE position.
8. Depress the vibratory control switch to the ON position to start the vibratory system. Read the vibrations per minute (VPM). The maximum VPM for low amplitude is 1925 ± 25 VPM.
9. If the frequency is not correct, adjust the low amplitude adjustment screw located on the right side servo cover of the vibratory pump. Loosen the locknut on the VPM adjustment screw and turn the adjustment screw counterclockwise to increase the maximum VPM or clockwise to decrease maximum VPM.
10. Depress the vibratory control switch to the OFF position to stop the vibratory system.

NOTE: (B): Existing 111-2633 Hose must be rerouted from the tee fitting in vib pump port to port on the cooling valve. Existing 111-2634 Hose must be rerouted from the tee fitting in vib pump port to port on the cooling valve as shown in picture (2).

NOTE: 3/8 in. bolts on the vib support housing cover must be removed and the cover rotated three holes (90 degrees) clockwise prior to installing the new motor as shown in picture (3).
