785 Steering Pump (4T-0382) Installation/Startup Procedure{4306}

Description of Change: When replacing the 4T-0382 Steering Pump, use the startup procedure below to aid in increasing the life of the pump.

Installation/Startup Procedure for the 4T-0382 Steering Pump:

1. Prior to installing pump on truck, fill the pump case with proper oil.

2. Install pump on truck and attach suction line, pump discharge line and case drain line to pump.

3. Fill steering tank with oil and leave the cap off the tank until the lines are vented.

WITH ENGINE OFF:

4. Loosen suction line at the tank to vent air out of suction line.

5. Loosen case drain line at the tank to drain air out of case drain line.

6. Refill tank to proper level and install tank cap.

7. With the engine kill switch off, crank the engine until pressure starts to rise in the steering circuit.

WITH THE ENGINE ON:

8. Start the engine and with the engine at low idle, steer the truck to purge the air from the pump discharge line.

9. Tighten all hose joints and check for oil leaks.

10. Refill tank to proper oil level.

Adaptable To: The 785 Steering Pump (4T-0382) Installation/Startup Procedure is adaptable to 784C (2PZ1-Up), 785B (6HK1-Up), 785C (1HW1-Up), 785C HAA (5AZ1-Up)
