Proper Boom Pin Removal Increases Service Life And Eases Installation{6301}

Usage:

572R (AAC, 2HZ) Pipelayers

Illustration 1.

Dimension (A) = 31 to 38 mm (1.25 to 1.5 inch)
Dimension (B) = 300 to 450 mm (12 to 18 inch)

Illustration 2.

(1) Retainer pin.
(2) Boom pin.
(3) Cotter pin.

Illustration 3.

The boom is removed whenever the pipelayer is transported. In order to remove the boom, the boom pins must be removed. Properly removing the pins will increase the service life of the pins. This will also help to avoid problems during reinstallation due to deformation of the ends of the boom pins.

To ease removal and inhibit pin damage, insert a rod with the dimensions shown in Illustration 1 into the hole in the leg of the pipelayer frame, shown in Illustration 3. Remove cotter pin (3) from retainer pin (1) and remove the retainer pin from boom pin (2). Position the end of the rod against the boom pin and strike the pin with a hammer until the pin is removed.
