The above machines are powered by 3500 Diesel Engines. A Caterpillar 2 micron fuel filter is recommended for all 3500 Diesel Engines. The new high pressure fuel systems require increased protection from abrasive wear. If the 2 micron fuel filter plugs, DO NOT replace the plugged filter with a larger micron fuel filter. The 2 micron filter plugged because it was doing it's job of cleaning the fuel and protecting the injectors.
ALWAYS USE CLEAN FUEL. This means using fuel tank filters and day tanks/fuel trucks that can keep the fuel free of dirt and water. Other Useful Tips
-
- * The fuel tank should be periodically drained.
- * Clean the inside of the fuel tank as needed.
- * Use a water separator when necessary.
- * Do not fill fuel filters with fuel before installing.
- * Fuel filters should be changed when a monitoring device indicates a high differential pressure.
- * The fuel tank should be periodically drained.
