Service Magazine, August 12, 1996, Page 21, "New High Efficiency Secondary Fuel Filter Assembly Improves Injector Life On 3500 Engines With EUI Injectors"
The fuel filter assembly part numbers are incorrect in the "Adaptable To:" portion of the article. The correct "Adaptable To:" paragraph follows:
Adaptable To: The new secondary 1R-0755 Fuel Filter Assembly replaces the 1R-0715 Fuel Filter Assembly. The new 1R-0755 Fuel Filter Assembly is adaptable to all 3500 EUI Engines and 3500B Engines for Caterpillar built machines.
--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------
Description of Change: A new secondary fuel filter assembly is available for the above machines powered by 3508, 3508B, 3512, 3512B, 3516, and 3516B Engines. The new fuel filter assembly media has been changed to provide 2 micron filtration. When fuel is not filtered properly, poppet valve wear can occur causing low injector discharge. The new fuel filter assembly reduces poppet valve wear.
Adaptable To: The new secondary 1R-0756 Fuel Filter Assembly replaces the 1R-0718 Fuel Filter Assembly. The new 1R-0756 Fuel Filter Assembly is adaptable to all 3500 EUI Engines and 3500B Engines for Caterpillar built machines.
NOTE: The purpose of a new fuel filter assembly is to reduce injector poppet valve wear. However, fuel supply cleanliness to the engine must also be maintained.
NOTE: Poppet valve wear can result in low engine power.
