Procedure For Steering Stop Setting {7050}

Usage:

D20D (9MG),
D250D (6NG),
D300D (5MG),
D250E (5TN),
D300E (7FN) Articulated Trucks

The following steering stop setting procedure allows full turning radius, while protecting the steering cylinders from over travel.

1. Fully extend the left hand steer cylinder with steering stop group removed from the right hand side.

2. Measure the distance between the cylinder end cap and the center of the pivot pin, dimension (A) (see Illustration). Record dimension (A).

3. Back off the left hand cylinder slightly, insert steer stop assembly (4) and a 133-7521 Shim (1), it may be necessary to use more than one, into gap on right hand side. Fully extend the left hand cylinder to clamp the steer stop assembly in place.

4. Check that dimension "A" has been reduced by 5.0 mm (.19 in), if not, repeat Step 3 adding or subtracting shims as necessary (See Chart for Shims).

5. Once the correct shim thickness has been established install steer stop pad (1) to right hand side.

6. Repeat Steps 1 to 5 for right hand steer cylinder and left hand stop.
