NOTE: This Program can be administered either before or after a failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS8903" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "T" as the SIMS Description Code. If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

The fuel tank guarding and striker assembly need to be updated on certain 834B and 836 Compactors. New compactors have improved fuel tank guarding and striker assembly. This kit provides Parts Needed to update current field population to this new enhanced design.

Rework Procedure
1. Remove fuel tank from machine.
2. Remove existing cover support gussets from inside of lower mount. See Illustration 3, Section A-A. Grind mounting surface smooth.
3. Cut slotted holes for new mounting bolt locations. See Illustration 3, Section A-A.
4. Weld in new 1010174 Cover Support Gussets as indicated in Illustration 3, Section A-A (4 mm fillet weld - low hydrogen process, both sides).
5. Notch end of leg on lower mount angle. See Illustration 3, Section A-A.
6. Notch end of slanted plate on lower mount. See Illustration 3, Section B-B.
7. Cut material off of plate extension as shown in Illustration 3, Section D-D.
8. Enlarge existing notch in bottom plate extension. See Illustration 3, Section F-F for details.
9. Remove two existing weld nuts from front plate extension. Drill out top hole to a diameter of 18.5 mm and weld on new 1F0748 Weld Nut (1 nut - resistance weld). See Illustration 3, Section C-C.
10. Weld on new 1418190 Plate Assembly to lower leg of front plate extension. (6 mm fillet weld - low hydrogen process, as indicated in Illustration 3, Section G-G).
11. Remove existing front guard plate.
12. Remove existing tapped bar from butterfly plate and grind smooth.
13. Remove striker bar.
14. Remove existing striker bar mounting pad and support gussets from the Engine End Frame. Grind frame smooth.
15. Weld on new 1387884 Striker Bar Mounting Pad (12 mm fillet weld - low hydrogen process, from A to B as indicated in the Illustration 2, Section D-D) and 1142689 and 1138137 Support Gussets (6 mm fillet weld - low hydrogen process, both sides) using dimensions given in Illustration 2, View B-B and Section D-D.
16. Mount new 1387877 Striker Bar with new hardware 8T5361 Washer and 7X0406 Bolt (torque to 900 N·m).
17. Mount modified 1418391 Fuel Tank to new striker bar using new 7X0515 Washer and 7X0344 Bolt (torque to 215 N·m) and to upper mount using existing hardware.
18. Use the new 1388434 Front Guard Plate Assembly to locate 1387883 Mounting Bar. See Illustration 2, View A-A.
19. Weld tapped 1387883 Bar to butterfly plate (8 mm fillet weld - low hydrogen process, both sides).
20. Mount new 1388434 Front Guard Plate Assembly using new hardware 5P1076 Washer and 8C3336 Bolt (tighten to a torque of 105 N·m).
21. Weld new 1421689 Bolt Guard Plates to existing lower fuel tank mount cover plate (5 mm fillet weld - low hydrogen process, C to D as indicated in Illustration). See Illustration 1, View C-C
22. Bolt cover plate on using new 8T4896 Washer and 4L6454 Bolt (tighten to a torque of 47 N·m).
