When reporting the repair, use "PI3970" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI3970" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

Interaction between steering and loader circuits may result in increased steering effort and loss of lift function at full turn steer on certain 438C AWS Backhoe Loaders. The hand metering unit and spool need to be replaced.

Parts Needed
Action Required
Replace hand metering unit with latest type.Replace the stem and spring in the Priority section of the loader valve with the latest type. Reset steering pressure to 2500 psi.
