Rework Procedure
The rework described here will improve the mounting of the front left and rear handholds on Challenger cabs by doing the following:
- - Increase stiffness of the attachment points to minimize deflections under heavy loads.
- - add center supports on the rear handhold to eliminate loads due to vibration.
1. Install the parts as shown in Illustration 1.
NOTE: Remove the cab headliner and the plastic insert used to attach the antenna prior to welding any supports. Reference SENR9443 Disassembly and Assembly, pages 54 and 56.
2. If the handhold has been lost, order 7I3819 to replace the front handhold and 7I3818 to replace the rear handhold.
3. After the handhold has been attached, allow the welds to cool and reinstall the cab headliner and plastic antenna insert.
