Install Additional Breathers On Certain 793 And 793B Trucks Equipped With 3516 Engines Caterpillar

NOTE: This Program must be administered as soon as possible. When reporting the repair, use "PI3996" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI3996" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

Problem

The 3516 Engine used in 793 and 793B Trucks does not have enough breather capacity, especially at high altitudes. The addition of two breathers will allow the oil to be fully separated from the crankcase gases. The result will be less oil passing through the breathers.

Action Required

Install two additional breathers on all 3516 Engines used in 793 and 793B Trucks. To be consistent with production, the breathers need to be installed on cylinders 6 and 8.

In addition, add two breathers on all 3516 Swing Engines used in 793 and 793B Trucks. To be consistent with production, the breathers need to be installed on cylinders 6 and 8.

Service Claim Allowances

NOTE: This is a 2-hour job.

CACo dealers use serial number 99Z00621 when submitting a claim on repairs to spare engines.
