NOTE: This Program can be administered either before or after a failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS8901" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "T" as the SIMS Description Code. If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

The steering cylinder guard has been improved to provide enhanced protection on certain 834B and 836 Compactors. Machines built after January 1997 have the improved cylinder guards. The 1419315 Kit provides the Parts Needed to update current field population to this new enhanced design.

Rework Procedure
1. Remove the current guarding from the frame.
2. Remove existing upper tapped mounting plates and lower mounting plates and gussets from frame.
3. Grind frame smooth.
4. Bolt tapped bar 1387880 and lower plate 1387881 to right side cylinder guard 1387867 using hardware washer 8T4994, bolt 8T9398, and bolt 8T8924 (finger tighten both bolts).
5. Bolt tapped bar 1387879 and lower plate 1387881 to left side cylinder guard 1387872 using hardware washer 8T4994, bolt 8T9398, and bolt 8T8924 (finger tighten both bolts).
6. Position assembled parts on frame and tack weld into place.
7. Remove cylinder guards. Final weld plates and gussets 9U0457 into place as indicated in Illustration 1. (10 mm fillet weld - low hydrogen process, both sides.
8. Install the 1387867 Right Cylinder Guard and 1387872 Lfet Cylinder Guard using the hardware identified in Steps 4 and 5. Tighten bolts to 370 N·m.
