NOTE: This Program must be administered as soon as possible. When reporting the repair, use "PI3993" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI3993" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
NOTE: This Revised Service Letter replaces the June 8, 1997 Service Letter. Changes have been made to the Affected Product.

The 8X7317 Transmission Pump Suction Hose needs to be replaced on certain 12H, 120H, 135H, 140H, and 160H Motor Graders. The new hose has an improved construction to avoid the possibility of hose collapse causing pump pressure drop and eventually lack of oil in the transmission.

Action Required
Remove the existing hose, with the visable spring inserted in the hose, and replace it with the new type hose, which has the spring molded into the hose during manufacturing.
1. Loosen clamp and slide hose from the transmission oil pump (magnetic screen group).
2. Loosen clamp and carefully slide hose from the differential. Let some oil spill in a clean recipient.
3. Install the new hose on the differential. Place hose clamps and install the other hose end on the transmission oil pump.
4. Tighten hose clamp to its original location.
5. If needed, return the oil back to the differential.
