If The Cab Door Is Difficult To Open, Check Nylon Washer For Damage{7308}

Usage:

All Series "
G"
Motor Graders Equipped With Cabs

A nylon washer is used in the door latch linkage on Series "G" Motor Graders equipped with cabs. It is possible for the nylon washer to be damaged on some machines in the field. On some machines the factory used a high temperature process (procedure) to dry the paint on the 6G6415 and 6G6420 Link Assemblies. The link assemblies are used in the right hand and left hand door latch linkage. It is possible that the heat used to dry the paint caused the nylon washer to melt (become soft). A melted washer can cause a failure of the cab door handle or it can make the operation of the door handle difficult. If machines in the field have either of these problems, check the nylon washer for damage. See the illustration for the location of the nylon washer. If the washer is damaged, a 4L6499 Washer (steel) can be used as a replacement.

A change has been made at the factory to the link assemblies. The link assemblies are now plated instead of painted. The high temperature process is no longer needed.
