Installation Of Vent Assembly Helps Prevent Oil Leakage In The Wheel Leaning Mechanism{5224}

Usage:

120B ( 64U, 32C );
140B ( 61S, 33C ) Motor Graders

Description of Change: A vent assembly is now used in the front axle group on 120B and 140B Motor Graders.

Reports show that oil leakage past the seal in the wheel leaning mechanism can be caused by an increase of pressure inside the worm gear housing. The vent assembly will release the pressure.

Adaptable To: The 5F5434 Vent Assembly is adaptable to all earlier 120B and 140B Motor Graders. It is in effect on 120B Motor Graders with Serial Numbers 64U8265 and 32C915, and 140B Motor Graders with Serial Numbers 61S1036 and 33C304.

To install the vent assembly on earlier machines, it will be necessary to drill and tap a hole in the 2F8000 Worm Gear Housing Cover. See the illustration for the location of the hole.
