Protection From Paint Is Required For The G3600 Hydraulic Actuator (Hydrax) Shaft{1909,7581}

Usage:

G3606 (3XF),
G3608 (4WF),
G3612 (1YG),
G3616 (4CG) Engines

If any painting process is performed on an engine in the field, protect the hydraulic actuator shaft from paint. Any dried paint that adheres to the shaft can cause a failure of the seal for the shaft. This will result in leakage of the hydraulic oil.

NOTE: If leakage of hydraulic oil occurs at the seal for the shaft, repair the leak with the 156-8489 Piston Assembly.

The following procedure is one method of protecting the shaft before painting:

1. Disconnect the shaft from the linkage.

2. Fully retract the shaft into the body of the actuator.

3. To further protect the shaft, tape off the end of the shaft.
