New Stainless Steel Filler Neck Now Used In Radiator Groups{1353}

Usage:

3406 (4PM, 2WB, 4JK, 4RG, 1LS, 4ZR, 8FS, 75Z, 9ES, 9NN),
3408 (2BG, 78Z),
3412 (81Z, 2WJ, 4BZ) Generator Set Engines

Description of Change: A new stainless steel filler neck is now being used in certain radiator groups. The steel or brass filler necks could corrode thus causing the coolant to become black and contaminated. If this condition is present, it is recommended that the steel or brass filler neck be replaced. However, if the filler neck is made of steel, the top tank assembly must be replaced. This is necessary because of the damage inflicted to the top of the radiator tank when the steel filler neck is removed.

There are two ways to identify if the filler neck is stainless steel or regular steel. First, the stainless steel filler necks were first used in February 1998. Secondly, stainless steel filler necks have a low attraction to a magnet whereas regular steel has a strong attraction to a magnet.

Adaptable To: The new stainless steel 6L-9849 Neck (Filler) is in the 6N-7033 Tank Assembly (Radiator Top). This top tank radiator assembly is in the 8N-4885, 8N-4880, and 115-9323 Radiator Groups on the above machines.
