Be Sure To Use Correct Stub Shaft When Replacing Cam Idler Gear{1234,1212}

Usage:

3176B (9WK) Marine Engine, 3176B (3NL) Industrial Engine

When installing a 132-3233 Cam Idler Gear in a 3176B Industrial or Marine Engine, the cam idler gear must be mounted on a 119-3778 Stub Shaft. The 119-3778 Stub Shaft is machined to a tighter tolerance to ensure proper clearance for oil to pass between the shaft and the bearing in the cam idler gear. There are some other stub shafts that appear to fit in the 132-3233 Cam Idler Gear. However, they will not provide the proper clearance. A lack of proper clearance may cause the cam idler gear bearing to seize. Bearing seizure will cause the center bolt to come loose and the shaft will no longer be seated properly in the block. This condition may damage the block. Therefore, 119-3778 Stub Shaft should always be used with the 132-3233 Cam Idler Gear.
