Reference: Engine News, September 1997, Page 19, "Metal Particle Detector Kit Is Available For Particle Sensor Groups And Particle Detectors".

Description of Change: A new metal particle detector is used on these engines. When compared to the former metal particle detector, this new metal particle detector has a grid with smaller holes and a different pattern. This will improve the effectiveness of this new metal particle detector.

A new metal particle detector kit is also available. This new kit includes the grid and O-ring seals required to service the new metal particle detector.

Adaptable To: The new 165-5689 Metal Particle Detector is a direct replacement for the former 144-8623 Metal Particle Detector. The former metal particle detector has been canceled. The new 165-5689 Metal Particle Detector is used in the 144-7647, 155-6407, and 167-1831 Metal Particle Sensor Groups on these engines. The new 165-5690 Metal Particle Detector Kit is available to service the new 165-5689 Metal Particle Detector and the former 144-8623 Metal Particle Detector.

The 129-2915 Metal Particle Detector Kit is still available to service the 123-4526 Metal Particle Detector. See the Reference Article for more information about the 129-2915 Metal Particle Detector Kit.
