Steering Metering Pump (Wheel Steer) - Disassemble

Usage:

Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

a. Remove the steering metering pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Metering Pump (Wheel Steer) - Remove" for the machine that is being serviced.

NOTE: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

1. Remove seven bolts (1) that hold the steering metering pump (2) together.

2. Separate the components of the steering metering pump as follows:

a. Remove end cap (3).


NOTICE

Do not drop star (5) during disassembly. Damage to the components will result.


b. Remove gerotor assembly-body (4) and star (5).

c. Remove spacer (6).

d. Remove drive (7).

e. Remove spacer plate (8).

3. Remove the O-ring seals from cap (3) and body (4).


NOTICE

Twist spool (10) and sleeve (9) slowly when removal is made.


4. Remove spool (10) and sleeve (9) as an assembly from the body of steering metering pump (2).

5. Remove bearing races (11) and thrust bearing (12) from the body of steering metering pump (2).

------ WARNING! ------

Springs (14) are under compression. To prevent possible personal injury, be sure to push springs (14) in a direction away from you.

6. Remove pin (13) and spool (10) from sleeve (9). Disengage sleeve (9) from springs (14).

7. Remove retaining ring (15) from the body of steering metering pump (2).

8. Remove bushing (16) from the body of steering metering pump (2).

9. Remove O-ring seal (17) from the body of steering metering pump (2).

10. Remove seals (18) and (19) from bushing (16).

11. Remove plug (20) from the body of steering metering pump (2).

12. Use a 10-24 Machine Screw (22) to remove seat (21) from the body of the steering metering pump.

13. Remove check ball (23) and retainer (24).

14. Remove the O-ring seals from seat (21).

15. Remove O-ring seal (25) from the body of steering metering pump (2).
