Usage:
NOTE: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.
NOTE: Do not mix the components in the steering pilot control valve. All components must be reinstalled in their original locations.
1. Install the original amount of shims (2), O-ring seal (3), O-ring seal (4) and backup ring (5) on each valve assembly (1).
2. Install two valve assemblies (1) in valve body (6). Tighten the valve assemblies to a torque of 45 ± 5 N·m (33 ± 4 lb ft).
3. Assemble each spool assembly as follows:
a. Apply 9S-3263 Thread Lock Compound to the threads of screw (10) before installation. Install retainer (7), spring (8), retainer (9) and screw (10). Tighten the screw to a torque of 1.20 ± 0.25 N·m (10.621 ± 2.213 lb inch).
b. Install spool (12) and pin (11).
4. Install spring (19), spool assembly (18) and retainer (17) in the valve body. Install O-ring seal (15) and lip seal (16) on cap assembly (13). Install the lip seal with the lip facing towards the spool assembly.
5. Install cap assembly (13) and plunger (14) in the valve body.
6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 for the other plunger and cap assembly.
7. Install spacer (20) and two socket head screws (21). Tighten the socket head screws to a torque of 7 ± 1 N·m (62 ± 9 lb inch).
8. Install retainer (23) and bracket (22).
9. Apply 7M-7260 Liquid Gasket to the threads of bolt (24). Install bolt (24) and tighten to a torque of 34 ± 3 N·m (25 ± 2 lb ft).
10. Install handle (27), dowel (25) and two links (26).
11. Install boot (28) on the steering pilot control valve.
End By:
a. Install the steering pilot control valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Pilot Control Valve (STIC Steer) - Install" for the machine that is being serviced.
