Usage:
NOTE: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.
NOTE: Lubricate all parts with clean hydraulic oil during assembly.
1. Inspect all the pump parts for wear. Check the bores in the body assemblies for wear. Measure the depth of grooves (1) in each bore. If the grooves are deeper than 0.38 mm (.015 inch), a replacement of the body assembly and gears must be made.
NOTICE |
---|
There are two isolation plates in the bottom of the pump housing and two in the top. The isolation plates hold the seal components in place. The isolation plates with the round edges on the outer radius on one edge go in the bottom of the pump housing with the round edge down. The isolation plates with the straight square edges on the radius go next to the top flange. |
2. The above photo shows how retainer assembly (3), isolation plates (4), backup rings (5) and O-ring seals (6) are to be installed.
3. Install backup rings (5) and O-ring seals (6). Install retainer assembly (3). Install isolation plates (4) with the rounded edges down.
4. Install pressure plate (7) in its original position with the bronze surface of the pressure plate facing toward the gears in the pump.
5. Install idler gear (9) and drive gear (8) in the body assembly.
6. Install pressure plate (10) in its original position with the bronze surface of the pressure plate facing toward the gears in the pump.
7. Install retainer assembly (11) on the pressure plate. Install isolation plates (12) with a straight (square) edge facing toward the flange assembly.
8. Use Tooling (A) to install seal (13) in the flange assembly. Install the seal with the lip of the seal facing toward the inside of the pump.
9. Install retaining ring (14).
10. Use Tooling (A) to install seal (15) in the flange assembly. Install the seal with the lip of the seal facing away from the pump.
11. Install O-ring seals (18) and backup rings (19) on flange assembly (17).
12. Install O-ring seal (16) on the flange assembly.
13. Install flange assembly (17) on body assembly (18) in its original position.
14. Install eight bolts (19) and the washers that hold flange assembly (17) to body assembly (18).
15. Install the D-ring seal in manifold (20). Put manifold (20) in position on the secondary steering pump, as shown. Install the four bolts and the washers that hold manifold (20) to secondary steering pump (1).
End By:
a. Install the secondary steering pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Gear Pump (Secondary Steering) - Install" for the machine that is being serviced.
