ACTION REQUIRED
Inspect and verify the torque on the four engine oil scavenge pump bolts at the first available time. - If any one of the 4 bolts are not at the minimum allowable torque (reference rework procedure), replace all four bolts and washers. - If all four bolts are at the correct torque, no further action is required. For inspection details, refer to the attached Rework Procedure. |

The existing bolts may have inadequate torque and could cause the pump mounting system to fail. You will not be charged for the service performed. Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service. Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 30Sep2010 when scheduling this service. 1. Refer to the C175 Disassembly & Assembly manual (KENR6052) for instructions on removal and installation of the oil pan. 2. Remove the engine oil pan. 3. Perform a static torque check on the two 160-8494 Bolts and the two 275-2200 Bolts that mount the scavenge oil pump (Image 1.1.1). The bolts should not move when a tightening torque of 80 Nm is applied. |

- If the static torque check did not result in bolt movement, no further action is required. Proceed to step 6 of the procedure. - If the static torque check did result in bolt movement, proceed through the remaining steps of the procedure. 4. Replace the 4 mounting bolts and washers with new bolts and washers of the same part number. When each bolt is removed, inspect the mounting feet of the scavenge pump to ensure there are no cracks initiating from the bolt hole prior to installing the new bolt. 5. Inspect the scavenge pump drive gear and crankshaft gear for any damage. 6. Install the oil pan. |
