Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire.

Clean up all leaked or spilled fuel. Do not smoke while working on the fuel system.

Turn the disconnect switch OFF or disconnect the battery when changing fuel filters.

  1. Disconnect hose assembly (1) and position out of the way.

  2. Disconnect harness assembly (2) and hose assembly (4) and position out of the way.

  3. Remove elbow assembly (3) and elbow assembly (5).

  4. Remove bolts (6) and bracket (7).

  5. Remove bolts (9), bolts (10) (not shown), bracket (8) fuel transfer pump (11), and the O-ring seal.

  6. Remove fuel transfer pump relief valve (12) and connector (13).
