发动机每一侧都有一个凸轮轴。 3512 凸轮轴由七个轴承支承。 3516 凸轮轴由九个轴承支承。 每一个凸轮轴都由发动机后端的齿轮驱动。
凸轮轴必须与曲轴正时合拍。 凸轮轴凸轮与曲轴位置的关系使每一缸的气门和单体喷油器能够在正确的时间进行操作。
