New Wide Band 02 Sensors and Software Are Now Used on Certain G3306B Turbocharger Engines {108H, 1408, 1920}
- Engine
- G3306B (S/N: R6S1-UP)
Description Of Change: The new oxygen sensors and software maintain more reliable emissions with third party three-way catalyst.
Adaptable To: The new oxygen sensors and software replace former oxygen sensors and software.
The new oxygen sensors and software are adaptable to the above engines back to first production.
Reference: Special Instruction, M0073674, Setup for Certain G3306TA Air/Fuel Ratio Control Engines with a Wide Band O2 Sensor for installation instructions.The new software has the following diagnostic test:
- Spark Cutout Test - Able to disable spark on individual cylinders. This test is used to help diagnose a weak cylinder.
- Spark Diagnostic Tests -Able to fire ignition coils on individual cylinders. This test is used to check for an open in the primary ignition circuit and overall ignition system performance.
- Compression Test - Able to crank engine with fuel and ignition disabled. This test is used to check mechanical issues within the combustion chamber.
- Engine Fuel Actuator Test - Able to command fuel valve position manually. This test is used to verify the proper operation of the engine fuel valve.
- Engine Throttle Actuator Test - Able to command throttle valve position manually. This test is used to verify the proper operation of the engine throttle valve.
