Mixing Caterpillar Long Life Coolant/Antifreeze (LLCA) With Conventional Cat Diesel Engine Antifreeze/Coolant And/Or Other Commercially Available Diesel Engine Antifreeze/Coolants Is Not Recommended{1395}

Usage:

Mixing Cat LLCA with standard (conventional) antifreeze/coolants is not recommended. Cat LLCA is, however, compatible with standard (conventional) coolants; but if you mix the two, you will not get the optimum performance.

NOTICE

NOTICE Do not use standard coolant to top-off a cooling system using LLCA. Do not use supplemental coolant additives (SCA) in cooling systems using LLCA. Failure to follow this notice cancels the benefits gained by using LLCA.

Mixing standard (conventional) antifreeze/coolants and/or SCA with LLCA:

* reduces the effectiveness of LLCA
* shortens LLCA life

Use only Caterpillar products or commercial products that have passed the CAT EC-1 specification for pre-mixed or concentrate coolants. Use only Caterpillar Extender with LLCA. Failure to follow these recommendations can result in shortened cooling system component life.

If the LLCA cooling system has been toped-up with a small amount of conventional coolant or if SCA are added to the system by mistake, the system will not be harmed. However, additions of conventional coolant or repeated additions of SCA will compromise the systems long life properties.

Should the system become contaminated with conventional coolant or SCA's exceeding 10% of the systems total capacity, either:

*drain the system and refill with LLCA
or
*maintain the system as a conventional cooling system. Continue treating with SCA's and change the coolant at the intervals recommended for standard coolant.

The Caterpillar Long Life Coolant/Antifreeze Product Data Sheet, PEHP4036, is available through normal literature ordering channels. This publication provides additional information about LLCA.
