电子控制模块（ECM）是一个安装在发动机上的控制箱内的环保密封设备。 ECM 会监控来自传感器的各种输入以便以适当的水平启动继电器、电磁阀等。 ECM 支持下列主要功能：
- 起动/停机控制
- 点火控制
- 发动机调速
- 空燃比控制
- 监控电气系统
- 发动机运转情况的监测
ECM 没有可拆除的个性化模块。 软件经由 Caterpillar 电子技师（ET）由文件的闪存编程来改变。
