  2. When the gasket for the oil pan is removed, damage may occur to the existing seal in the groove of the bridge. If the seal is damaged, apply a sufficient amount of Tooling (C) in order to fill the groove. The groove must be completely filled.

  3. Apply Tooling (C) to the joint between the cylinder block and the front housing.

  4. Install Tooling (B) in the cylinder block in Hole (X).

  5. Position gasket (1) and engine oil pan (8) in the correct position on the cylinder block. Install bolts (5) in order to secure engine oil pan (8) to the cylinder block. Tighten bolts (5) finger tight.

Note: New bolts have sealant to the first 13 mm (0.5 inch) of the threads. In order to reuse the old bolts, clean the old sealant from the bolts and apply Tooling (D) to the bolts.

  6. Install the bolts (not shown) that secure the engine oil pan to the flywheel housing.

  7. Remove Tooling (B). Install bolts (3), (4), and (7).

  8. Tighten bolts (3), (4), (5), and (7) to a torque of 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  9. Install the O-ring seal and drain plug (5). Tighten drain plug (5) to a torque of 34 N·m (25 lb ft).

  10. If necessary, install the seal and the tube assembly in the engine oil pan. Tighten nut (2) to a torque of 18 N·m (13 lb ft).
