Improved Auxiliary Drive Coupling {3279}

Usage:

3516 27Z
Engine:
3508 (S/N: 6TJ1-UP; 95Y1-UP; 68Z1-UP)
3508B (S/N: 5PS1-UP)
3512 (S/N: 2WK1-UP; 49Y1-UP; 65Z1-UP)
3512B (S/N: 3ZW1-UP)
3516 (S/N: 9KF1-UP; 27Z1-UP; 71Z1-UP)
G3516 (S/N: 4EK1-UP; 5PN1-UP)

Description of Change: The new larger coupling has a higher temperature capability than the former coupling. This will provide a longer service life in locomotive applications.

Adaptable To: The 243-7111 Flexible Coupling Gp is available for parts service. The former 9Y-7201 Flexible Coupling Gp is cancelled. The former 9Y-7201 Flexible Coupling Gp can be updated to the new design by using the parts in Table 1. The drive hub for the generator does not need to be removed in order to install the new coupling.

The former 7E-9867 Jaw Flange is cancelled and replaced by the 243-7109 Jaw Flange. The 243-7110 Buffer Ring must be used with the 243-7109 Jaw Flange. The former 7E-9868 Buffer Ring is available for parts service. The 4P-3661 Guard has been redesigned. Refer to Illustration 1. The previous design will still work with the new drive group but replacement is recommended for better air flow.
