- Install Tooling (B) in the cylinder block.
- Install gasket (16) and oil cooler core assembly (15) on Tooling (B).

Illustration 2 g01109737 - Install gasket (13) and engine oil filter base (10) on Tooling (B). Install bolts (11) finger tight.
- Remove Tooling (B) and install remaining bolts (11) finger tight.
- Tighten bolts (11) in a numerical sequence to a torque of
35 ± 8 N·m (26 ± 6 lb ft) . - Connect tube assembly (12).
- Apply Tooling (C) to the first
10 ± 1.5 mm (0.40 ± 0.06 inch) threads of the taperlock stud. Install the taperlock stud in engine oil filter base (10). Tighten the taperlock stud to a torque of80 ± 15 N·m (59 ± 11 lb ft) . - Install adapter (15) and the O-ring seal. Install cover (14) and the O-ring seal. Tighten the cover to a torque of
70 ± 10 N·m (52 ± 7 lb ft) .Show/hide tableIllustration 3 g01109619 - Install tube assembly (8) and tube assembly (9).
- Install clamps (7). Tighten the nuts to a torque of
30 ± 7 N·m (22 ± 5 lb ft) . - Install the oil bypass valves. Install bypass valve assembly (6) and spring (5) in the engine oil filter base. Install the O-ring seal on plug (4). Install the plug.

Illustration 4 g01109615 - Position engine oil filter base (1) and install bolts (2).
- Apply Tooling (C) to the first
10 ± 1.5 mm (0.40 ± 0.06 inch) threads of the taperlock stud. Install the taperlock stud in the engine oil filter base. Tighten the taperlock stud to a torque of80 ± 15 N·m (59 ± 11 lb ft) . - Install engine oil filter (3). Follow the directions on the engine oil filter for the correct installation procedure. Do not overtighten the engine oil filter.
- Fill the lubrication system with engine oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities" for the lubrication system capacity of the engine.
