Installation Procedure

1. Install Tooling (B) in the cylinder block.

2. Install gasket (16) and oil cooler core assembly (15) on Tooling (B).

3. Install gasket (13) and engine oil filter base (10) on Tooling (B). Install bolts (11) finger tight.

4. Remove Tooling (B) and install remaining bolts (11) finger tight.

5. Tighten bolts (11) in a numerical sequence to a torque of 35 ± 8 N·m (26 ± 6 lb ft).

6. Connect tube assembly (12).

7. Apply Tooling (C) to the first 10 ± 1.5 mm (0.40 ± 0.06 inch) threads of the taperlock stud. Install the taperlock stud in engine oil filter base (10). Tighten the taperlock stud to a torque of 80 ± 15 N·m (59 ± 11 lb ft).

8. Install adapter (15) and the O-ring seal. Install cover (14) and the O-ring seal. Tighten the cover to a torque of 70 ± 10 N·m (52 ± 7 lb ft).

9. Install tube assembly (8) and tube assembly (9).

10. Install clamps (7). Tighten the nuts to a torque of 30 ± 7 N·m (22 ± 5 lb ft).

11. Install the oil bypass valves. Install bypass valve assembly (6) and spring (5) in the engine oil filter base. Install the O-ring seal on plug (4). Install the plug.

12. Position engine oil filter base (1) and install bolts (2).

13. Apply Tooling (C) to the first 10 ± 1.5 mm (0.40 ± 0.06 inch) threads of the taperlock stud. Install the taperlock stud in the engine oil filter base. Tighten the taperlock stud to a torque of 80 ± 15 N·m (59 ± 11 lb ft).

14. Install engine oil filter (3). Follow the directions on the engine oil filter for the correct installation procedure. Do not overtighten the engine oil filter.

15. Fill the lubrication system with engine oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities" for the lubrication system capacity of the engine.

End By:

1. Install the marine transmission oil cooler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly , "Marine Transmission Oil Cooler - Remove and Install".

2. Install the heat exchanger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly , "Heat Exchanger - Install".
