Start By:
- Remove the heat exchanger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly , "Heat Exchanger - Remove".
- Remove the marine transmission oil cooler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly , "Marine Transmission Oil Cooler - Remove and Install".

- Remove engine oil filter (3) with Tooling (A).
- Remove bolts (2).
- Remove oil filter base assembly (1).
- Remove the taperlock stud from the oil filter base assembly.

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.
Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.
Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
- Remove clamps (7).
- Remove tube assembly (8) and tube assembly (9).
- If necessary, remove the engine oil bypass valve. Remove plug (4). Remove bypass valve assembly (6) and spring (5) from oil filter base (1). Remove the O-ring seal from plug (4).

- Remove bolts (11).
- Remove oil filter base (10). Remove gasket (13) from the engine oil filter base.
- If necessary, remove cover (14) from the engine oil filter base. Remove the O-ring seal from the cover. Remove adapter (15) from the engine oil filter base. Remove the O-ring seal from the adapter. Remove the taperlock stud from the engine oil filter base.
