Start By:

  1. Remove the timing gear cover. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Timing Gear Cover - Remove" for the engine that is being serviced.

  1. Turn the crankshaft until No. 1 piston is at TOP DEAD CENTER position and the "C" mark on the crankshaft gear is in alignment with the "C" mark on the camshaft gear, as shown.

  2. Remove bolt (2) and the washer from magneto drive gear (1).

  3. Install Tooling (A) on magneto drive gear (1). Use Tooling (A) in order to remove magneto drive gear (1) from the magneto drive shaft.

  4. Remove two bolts (3) and the plate.

  5. Remove idler gear (2).

  6. Remove four bolts (4) from the camshaft gear.

  7. Use Tooling (B) in order to remove the bearing from idler gear (2).

  8. Install Tooling (C) on camshaft gear (5).

  9. Use Tooling (C) in order to carefully remove camshaft gear (5).
