Note: Inspect all O-ring seals before beginning the installation. Replace any O-ring seals that are worn or damaged.

Note: Refer to the Specifications Manual, "RENR5843" for special torques that are required.


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Install Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device on control valve (20). Position the control valve in the machine. The main control valve weighs approximately 91 kg (200 lb).

  1. Install bolts (18) in order to secure the control valve in the machine.

  1. Remove Tooling (B) from the control valve.

  1. Connect hose assemblies (19) to the bottom of the control valve.

  1. Connect hose assemblies (17) to the left side of the control valve.

  1. Position block (16) and install bolts (15).

  1. Connect harness assembly (14) .

  1. Connect hose assemblies (13) to the top of the control valve.

  1. Position bracket (12) and install bolts (11) .

  1. Position the water separator and install bolts (10) .

  1. Position the bracket and install bolts (9) .

  1. Connect three hose assemblies (8) to the right side of the control valve.

  1. Connect two hose assemblies (7) .

  1. Position storage compartment (4). Install bolts (3) .

  1. Position the right hand cover assembly (1). Install bolts (2) .

  1. Fill the hydraulic tank with hydraulic oil. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7613, "Hydraulic System Oil Level - Change". Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7613, "Lubricant Viscosities and Refill Capacities".

  1. Start the engine and check for leaks.

  1. Obtain a sample of hydraulic oil for S·O·S analysis. Refer to the Fluid Analysis and Laboratory Guide, SEBF3116, "Obtaining an Oil Sample for S·O·S Analysis". Also, refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7613, "Sampling Interval and Location of Sampling Valve".

  1. If the S·O·S sample exceeds ISO 18/15, flush the hydraulic system. Refer to the Special Publication, SEBF8447, "Procedure for Filtering Hydraulic Excavator Hydraulic Oil".
