Removal Procedure

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Drain the coolant. The cooling system contains approximately 39 L (10 US gal) of coolant.
- Open the hood above the engine.
- Disconnect harness assembly (1) from bracket (2) .

- Remove bracket (2) .
- Remove nuts (3), clamps (4), and tube assemblies (5) .

- Remove O-ring seals (6) from tube assemblies (5) .
- Remove the bolt, the spacer, and clips (7) .

- Disconnect tube assemblies (8) .

- Remove gasket (11) and O-ring seals (13) .
Installation Procedure
- Install gasket (11) and O-ring seals (13) .

- Install oil cooler (12) .
- Position cover (10) .
- Install bolts (9) .
- Connect tube assemblies (8) .

- Install clips (7), the spacer, and the bolt.
- Install O-ring seals (6) into tube assemblies (5) .
